Weird and Religious
The Dogon people of Mali have complex cosmological stories involving star systems and invisible beings called Nommo, described as amphibious ancestral spirits. Their myths link creation, water, and the structure of the universe in ways that mix observation and symbolic storytelling.

In the name of religion
1478 onward, Spain. The Spanish Inquisition targeted Jews and Muslims who had converted to Christianity but were suspected of false belief. Arrests, torture, and executions were justified as defending Catholic orthodoxy, purifying society, and saving souls from heresy and divine punishment.
Fact
In Hinduism, many gods and goddesses are worshipped, and these deities are commonly understood as different expressions or aspects of the one ultimate reality, allowing a wide range of devotional practices.
Redefining God
Faced with contradictions, scientific refutation, and moral embarrassment, many modern believers no longer defend the god their scriptures describe. They quietly replace him. God becomes energy, love, consciousness, the universe, the ground of being, or something intentionally undefined. Redefining God as energy is a failure. Energy is a defined physical concept with measurable properties. It is not conscious. It does not care. It does not command or judge. To equate god with energy is to misuse scientific language while abandoning every traditional religious claim. No one prays to kinetic energy, and no one obeys thermodynamics. This definition hides behind vagueness while pretending to engage with science.

Ask the right question
Why do religions that preach detachment from the world still build large institutions concerned with wealth and power?
Religious Crooks
Uriel da Costa style historical critics exist, but a clearer modern example is Paul Mackenzie of Kenya, a preacher who urged followers to starve in order to meet Jesus, leading to mass deaths and investigations into how religious control over believers was used in a closed community setting.
