Weird and Religious
Islamic tradition includes the idea that certain animals will testify on the Day of Judgement. A person’s own skin, hands, and feet are also described as speaking and giving evidence about what the person did in life, as though the body itself records moral actions.

In the name of religion
1529, Central Europe. Ottoman Muslim forces besieged Vienna. Expansion was framed by leaders as legitimate jihad and extension of Islamic rule, while Christian defenders cast resistance as protecting Christendom from Islamic domination, giving the conflict strong religious meaning on both sides.
Fact
In Judaism, the covenant is central, and Judaism teaches that a special relationship exists between God and the people of Israel.
Vulnerable minds
Children are particularly vulnerable to religion because their brains are unfinished. Critical thinking develops slowly while trust in authority arrives early. When religious ideas are introduced during this period, they are not evaluated but absorbed. By the time questioning becomes possible, the belief is already fused with identity. Challenging it feels like attacking the self rather than correcting an error. This is why religion targets the young, not because the arguments are strong but because the minds are undefended.
Quote of the day
“With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil, but for good people to do evil, that takes religion.” Steven Weinberg.
Ask the right question
