Weird and Religious

In ancient Egypt, some gods were shown with animal heads because qualities of animals were thought to reflect divine traits. A falcon head suggested sharp sight and power, while a jackal head linked a god with cemeteries and the desert. The image was not symbolic art in the modern sense but a literal way of showing a god’s nature.

A great psychological pacifier

Religion acts as an emotional coping mechanism. In moments of grief, fear, or uncertainty, religious beliefs reframe events in ways that reduce distress. Birth becomes a gift, suffering becomes a test, and death becomes a transition. These explanations are not true, but they comfort. Rituals such as prayer, confession, and communal worship provide structured outlets for emotion and create an illusion of control where none exists. Belief need not be accurate to function as a psychological pacifier.
