Weird and Religious

In parts of India, there have been temples where rats are treated as sacred and allowed to roam freely. Devotees feed them milk and grain, and eating food that a rat has nibbled can be considered a blessing rather than a health risk.

In the name of religion

2021, Ethiopia, Tigray region. Although mainly ethnic and political, attacks on religious sites and identity occurred. Some actors used Orthodox Christian or Muslim identity rhetoric to mobilise supporters, framing struggle as defence of faith community amid war.

Attempts to separate "true" religion from its violent expression collapse under examination. The scriptures contain commands to kill. The doctrines reward obedience above compassion. The institutions punish dissent. When believers act according to these principles, the result is predictable. Calling such actions distortions is an act of denial.
