Weird and Religious
In ancient Carthage, there is evidence that children may have been sacrificed to gods such as Baal Hammon during times of crisis. Urns containing the burned remains of infants have been found in special burial areas called tophets. Some scholars argue over the interpretation, but many ancient writers described the practice as an appeal for divine favour.

Who made the birds?
This question often asked by believers exposes how little of the natural process of evolution they understand. Birds were not made. They evolved. They share ancestry with other animals. Their wings are modified forelimbs. Their feathers evolved from earlier structures that once served other purposes. Every feature has a history. There is no moment of creation. There is only change over time. Asking who made the birds is like asking who made the accent of a language. It misunderstands the nature of the phenomenon entirely.
Quote of the day
“The whole religious complexion of the modern world is due to the absence from Jerusalem of a lunatic asylum.” Thomas Paine.
