From Death to God

God emerges naturally from the fear of death. A god answers the most frightening questions without requiring evidence. Why did this person die? Because someone decided it. What happens next? These answers are emotionally powerful precisely because they cannot be tested and therefore cannot fail. When fear is the problem, truth is optional; comfort is enough.
