Why religion survives

Religion does not persists because it answers questions well. It persists because it implants itself into early childhood, embeds itself deeply, and defends itself fiercely. Truth does not need protection. It survives any examination. Religion survives by avoiding it. Religion is not primarily an idea. It is a social habit transmitted through generations, reinforced by fear, belonging, and repetition, and disguised as eternal truth. Once this is seen clearly, its endurance loses its mystery. The question is no longer why religion survives, but why anyone would expect habit, fear, and identity to produce truth at all.

Quote of the day

“Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help.” Jesse Ventura.
