In parts of West Africa, the Yoruba tradition includes a god of iron, war, and technology called Ogun, who is believed to govern not only weapons but also modern tools such as cars and machinery. Road accidents are sometimes linked to displeasing Ogun, blending ancient belief with modern life.

In the name of religion

1831, Virginia in the United States. Nat Turner led an enslaved uprising that killed dozens before being crushed. Turner said he acted under visions and biblical inspiration. Later reprisals were defended as protecting a Christian social order and preventing further divinely framed revolt.

In Hinduism, bhakti is a major path centred on devotion to a chosen deity, involving prayer, singing, ritual acts, and a personal emotional connection with the divine.

Bronze Age ruler
