Weird and Religious
Some early Christian monks believed that demons caused distracting thoughts, including ordinary desires or random ideas. A stray thought about food or comfort could be treated as a literal attack by an invisible being rather than a normal mental process.

In the name of religion
1831, Virginia in the United States. Nat Turner led an enslaved uprising that killed dozens before being crushed. Turner said he acted under visions and biblical inspiration. Later reprisals were defended as protecting a Christian social order and preventing further divinely framed revolt.
Fact
In Taoism, simplicity is valued, and Taoism often presents a simple, modest life as closer to natural balance than ambition and excess.
Manipulative prophets
Some of God's so-called messengers are manipulative. They understand the power of claiming divine authority and use it deliberately. Speaking for a god removes the need to persuade with reason. Commands become sacred. Opposition becomes heresy. Personal ambition can be reframed as divine will. Wealth, sex, loyalty, and power become easier to obtain when refusal carries eternal consequences. This is not rare. It is a predictable outcome whenever belief is elevated above evidence and authority is placed beyond challenge.
Quote of the day
“I would rather live my life as if there is no God and die to find out there is, than live as if there is and die to find out there is not.” Albert Camus.
