Weird and Religious
In medieval Europe, animal trials were a real legal practice. Pigs, rats and even insects were sometimes put on trial for crimes such as destroying crops or killing a child. They were assigned lawyers, witnesses were heard, and punishments could include execution or banishment, all under a religious worldview in which moral order applied to all creation.

In the name of religion
2008, Mumbai in India. Islamist Muslim group Lashkar-e-Taiba attacked hotels, a Jewish centre, and public places, killing civilians. The assault was justified as jihad against India and its allies, portraying targets as enemies of Islam and promising religious reward.
Fact
In Islam, earlier prophets such as Abraham, Moses, and Jesus are recognised, and Islam teaches that they also brought guidance from the same God.
On a winged horse
Noah's Ark and the Great Flood are Christianity's impossible story. The equivalent in Islam is the story of the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey and ascension, in which he is said to have travelled from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended through the heavens on a winged horse-like creature, an account that was historically treated as literal fact. Muhammad did not dream or imagine; he travelled physically through space and layers of heaven in a single night. The claim is not merely unsupported but incoherent. A human body travelling vast distances instantaneously, ascending through physical and metaphysical realms, riding a mythical creature that leaves no trace and violates every known constraint of biology and physics is not profound. No mechanism is offered and no evidence exists. The only requirement is belief.
Quote of the day
“Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet.” Napoleon Bonaparte.
Ask the right question
Why is questioning religious claims often discouraged if those claims are supposed to be true?
Religious Crooks
José de Luz, associated with Brazilian spiritist healing circles, represents a broader pattern of mediums who charge for spiritual surgery and cures, frequently accused by sceptics and medical authorities of exploiting belief for income under religious cover.
