Weird and Religious
In parts of medieval Europe, people believed in “ordeals” as a way to let God decide guilt. An accused person might carry a red hot iron or plunge a hand into boiling water. If the wound healed cleanly, that was taken as proof of innocence.

Fact
In Buddhism, different schools have developed, and Buddhism includes traditions such as Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana, each with its own practices and interpretations while sharing core teachings.
Redefining God
Faced with contradictions, scientific refutation, and moral embarrassment, many modern believers no longer defend the god their scriptures describe. They quietly replace him. God becomes energy, love, consciousness, the universe, the ground of being, or something intentionally undefined. God as the universe itself offers an escape. This is pantheism without courage. If god is everything, then god explains nothing. The universe already exists as a concept without divine branding. Renaming it adds no meaning, morality, or understanding. It adds only confusion. Saying god is the universe is functionally identical to saying god does not exist, while allowing the believer to keep the word and the identity that come with it.
