Religion and astronomy
Like many other areas of science, astronomy contradicts scripture. Religious texts describe a small, layered cosmos with Earth at its centre or occupying a privileged position, where stars are treated as lights or ornaments and the sky as a structure rather than space. Science reveals an expanding universe with hundreds of billions of galaxies, none of which recognise or care about humanity. The distance between these two views is not interpretive. It is absolute.
