Weird and Religious

There have also been religions built around very recent figures. In parts of Melanesia in the twentieth century, “cargo cults” formed where people believed Western goods came from ancestral spirits. They built imitation airstrips and control towers from wood, performing rituals in the hope that planes full of supplies would return.

In the name of religion

2018, Burkina Faso. Islamist militants attacked churches and Christian villages. Groups justified violence as jihad, targeting Christians and local Muslims who cooperated with the state, aiming to impose their version of Islamic rule.

Fact

In Christianity, Jesus Christ is regarded as the Son of God, and Christianity teaches that his life, teachings, death, and resurrection are central to God’s plan for humanity.

Misunderstanding evolution

Some believers argue that evolution explains change within kinds but not the origin of kinds. This distinction is false. There is no boundary where microevolution stops and macroevolution begins. Small changes accumulate. Populations diverge. Speciation occurs. New forms emerge. This process has been observed directly and inferred extensively. Refusal to accept it is not scientific doubt. It is theological resistance.

Quote of the day

“Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand.” Karl Marx.

David Koresh led the Branch Davidians and claimed exclusive prophetic authority, with former members reporting that he took multiple “spiritual wives,” including underage girls, presenting sexual access as part of his divine role. For more information, google the name. Today we took a look at yet another religious crook but there are hundreds of thousands of them. You could spend a lifetime researching the topic.
