Weird and Religious

Some Hindu traditions describe gods who take animal forms not as disguises but as full divine incarnations. A god appearing as a fish or a boar was not seen as a lesser form but as a direct intervention in cosmic events.

In the name of religion

1915, Ottoman Empire, Armenian regions. Armenian Christians were deported and killed in mass atrocities. Perpetrators portrayed Armenians as traitors and outsiders, using Muslim identity politics and wartime religious division to justify removal of a Christian minority.

In Judaism, rabbinic tradition plays an important role, and Judaism uses generations of legal discussion to interpret how commandments apply in practical life.

Religious success

Religion succeeded because it answered emotional needs while reinforcing authority. It created shared identity, justified leadership, reduced fear, and offered stability in exchange for obedience. These were practical advantages that served society well, yet they reveal nothing about the truth of the beliefs themselves.
